What does it take to garner sense

By saying yes to the Marriage bill

Not viewing through an intolerant lens

And lack of human care, until

You’ve sucked the life blood from your own,

For men were born to live and learn

Intolerant Ireland’s dead and gone

It’s time right now for tides to turn.

They are not of a different kind,

Their names are all you need to say

To see that there are none so blind

And in days gone by they couldn’t stay

For whom the propaganda rope was spun

A web to make the stomach churn

Intolerant Ireland’s dead and gone

It’s time right now for tides to turn.

Is it for them that our friends and brothers

Had many days they had to hide

For them that all the blood was shed

For them that Harvey Milk has died

And all the people who cried alone

Still many now refuse to learn

Intolerant Ireland’s dead and gone

It’s time right now for tides to turn

Yet if we turned the years again

And called our brothers as they were

In all their loneliness and pain,

They’d cry someone else’s joy

Has caused the prejudice so to burn

They weighed so lightly what they gave

Intolerant Ireland’s dead and gone

It’s time to rest now in the grave
